General Databases

• IATE (Interactive Terminology for Europe). It is the EU’s terminology database.
• Termium Plus. Database of the Translation Bureau of Public Services and Procurement Canada.

Agricultural Translation

• AGROVOC. Multilingual Thesaurus. It is the largest Linked Open Data set about agriculture available for public use.
• FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Italian). It includes terms commonly used in agricultural sciences, nutrition, biotechnology, fisheries, forestry, food safety, etc.

Financial Translation

• IMF Multilingual Terminology Database (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish). It contains over 17000 entries encountered in International Monetary Fund documents in relation to money and banking, public finance, economic growth, etc.

Legal Translation

• Eur-Lex. Legal, legislative and institutional terminology.

Scientific Translation

• Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology. Technical terminology in all Indian languages.
• WIPO’s Multilingual Terminology Portal (World Intellectual Property Organization) (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish). It gives access to scientific and technical terms derived from patent documents.

Social Science Translation

• ILOTERMBASE (International Labour Organization). English, French, Spanish, and/or German, Russian, Arabic and Chinese equivalents on social and labour fields terms. (login: guest, no password if prompted)

Style Guide

• Interinstitutional Style Guide. It contains uniform stylistic rules and conventions which must be used by all the institutions, bodies, offices and agencies of the European Union.

Multilingual Parallel Corpora

• DCEP (Digital Corpus of the European Parliament). A sentence-aligned parallel corpus in 24 languages, comprising European Parliament texts produced between 2001 and 2012 and containing over 1.3 billion words.
• DGT-Acquis. Multilingual paragraph-aligned parallel corpora extracted from the EU Official Journal in all 23 official EU languages.
• JRC-Acquis. A 22-language sentence-aligned parallel corpus, consisting of (the approximation of) Acquis Communautaire texts, the EU’s legislative documents and containing over 1 billion words.
