Dictionaries/Online Translators

Jisho.org A popular Japanese-English dictionary that searches for words and example sentences. Especially tailored towards Japanese beginner-intermediate learners. Other functions include looking up conjugated words, identifying and converting Japanese numbers and years, and searching phrases containing certain Kanji.

Ichi.moe An all-purpose Japanese text parsing and dictionary too. Like Jisho.org, it is meant for learners of the language.

Weblio An integrated Japanese-English dictionary and encyclopedia. Also used for searching synonyms. 10 million English words and over 9 million recorded example sentences are available on this site. 

Kotobank  A web-site that allows one to search at once well over seventy dictionaries containing specialized or culture-specific vocabulary. Also aggregates multiple encyclopedias and databases. Diverse fields are available for search, such as current issues, historical events, business terminology, and so forth.

Business translation 

Rondely Provides specific dictionaries containing information in such fields as accounting, stock, ad/marketing, and so forth. Also contains other field-specific dictionaries like medical and business dictionaries.

Chemistry translation

International Chemical Safety Cards (by the National Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS), 2020). Provides a whole host of medical terminology with relevant information and definitions.

Computing translation 

eWords Comprehensive wordlist on computing terminology. May also be indexed by category, letter, and kana. 

Legal Translation

Japanese Law Translation Contains a free online Japanese-English dictionary as well as English translations of current Japanese legal terminology and laws.

Medical and Biological sciences translation 

Japanese-English Dictionary Online: Medicine (by Meikai University, 1999). The searchable dictionary of medical terminology that also links to external glossaries and information pages.

Life Science Dictionary (by Kyoto University, 1993). An English-Japanese dictionary containing life-science terminology. Corpus and thesaurus are also available on this site.

Japanese-English Medical Glossary (by the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, Circulation Society, and Physiological Society, 1997). A large glossary of medical terms.
